Shiatsu is a physical therapy that originates from Japan but has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Although shiatsu literally means ‘finger pressure’ in practice it uses a combination of pressure points, gentle manipulation and stretching to strengthen weak areas and reduce tension in the body. It is a deeply relaxing experience and regular treatments can help to alleviate stress, tension, pain and to maintain a sense of vitality and well-being.

Shiatsu supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works on the whole person – not just on a physical level, but also on the pychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of being.

Shiatsu is usually done on a futon on the floor with the receiver wearing loose, comfortable clothing. It can also be adapted for treatment on a massage table and its principles can be applied in a seated, ergonomic chair, making it an ideal treatment for health and well-being in the workplace.

I hold a clinic at Y Plas, Machynlleth, mid Wales on Thursday afternoons. Feel free to email me for bookings or any questions you may have.
